In 2002 the Worland church of Christ celebrated its 50th anniversary. The church was begun in 1952 by two brothers and their wives and has grown to approximately 150 members. One of the brothers, Paul Lasater, is still living and an active member here in Worland.

When the church began there were several Wyoming preachers who were instrumental in serving and assisting them. These included Audie Moore, H.L. Matheny, Stanley Shipp, and Ed Euland. During 1953-54 Leslie Rickerson who was the preacher in Thermopolis, Wyoming would drive to Worland twice on Sundays to preach and help with the services. The church began by renting a small storefront and progressed to meeting in the Greek Orthodox church and in 1955 Brother Rickerson moved to Worland and became the first full time preacher. The church then purchased the old Catholic church building at 7th and Grace and worshipped at this location until 1962 when the present building was built east of town on Big Horn Avenue.

Families who were key to the growth of the church in the early days were Fon and Sally Lasater, Paul and Betty Lasater, Lindsay and Virginia Hayes, David and Lillian Petty, Flavil and Rose Hayes, Jack and Kathryn Lovelady, Jo and Ben Levertt, Gus and Roberta August, Leland and Hilda Gossett, Tiny Johnson, Ralph and Sue Dawes, Claude and Ruth Hiner, Bill and Delores Hamilton, John and Louise Ruby, David and Lois Morrison, Denny Turner, Bill and Nevada Bennett, Fern Bullard, Charlie and Fern Kingsbury, Chuck and Teddy Stewart, Deb and Letah Chilston, Mae Cook, Dill Joyner, Leroy and Idabelle Hastings, Vern Werbelon, and Pop and Beth Edwards.

In 1969 Elders were installed for the first time. Dave Petty and Ted Quillen were the first to be installed and J.D. Blake soon followed. J.D. Blake passed away in 1970 and Ted and Dave have moved to other locations. In 1980 Ken Stinson was appointed as an Elder and Larry Brewster was appointed in 1981. These two men still serve today.

Kevin Bentch is the current Gospel Minister having come to Worland to serve in 2006.
